NEW MARKET – Fred E. Rose, 88, a retired grain dealer, died at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Doris Clifton, in New Market. He had been in poor health for five years and seriously ill for three months. Mr. Rose and his wife came to New Market eight years ago after his retirement from granary operations in Tuscola, Ill. He attended Central Normal College in Danville, Ind. and was a teacher in the Illinois school system until his entry into business. He was a member of the Methodist Church in Garret, Ill. A son of Allen and Maria Graham Rose, he was born in Gallipolis, Ohio on May 30, 1878. He was married to Mae Collins in Douglas County, Ill. on Dec. 16, 1903. Surviving are the wife; the daughter, Mrs. Clifton; two sons, Richard S. Rose of Decatur, Ill. and Donald Rose of Barberton, Ohio; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. A daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Michener, five brothers and five sisters preceded him in death. Friends may call at the Noble Reeves Funeral Home in New Market Thursday afternoon and evening. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Waddington Funeral Home in Tuscola, Ill. Burial will be in the Tuscola Cemetery. – jlr
